Building Financial Resilience for Filmmakers
A proposed member-owned savings and credit initiative for filmmakers and creative professionals in Northern Uganda — being explored, not yet operational.
What is being explored
The proposed NUFA SACCO reflects an ambition to explore practical ways of strengthening financial inclusion, savings culture, access to responsible financial services, and long-term sustainability for filmmakers and creative professionals.
The initiative is intended to explore how a structured member-focused financial model could support the economic resilience of the film community while encouraging financial literacy, collective responsibility, and sustainable creative enterprise.
Background and rationale
Creative careers are often project-based and income can be irregular. A well-governed, member-owned financial cooperative could help filmmakers plan, save and build resilience. Whether and how such a model can be established is still being explored.
Relationship with NUFA
The NUFA SACCO is an initiative of the Northern Uganda Filmmakers Association, intended to serve the association's members and the wider film and creative community. Its legal form, ownership and relationship with NUFA will be set out here once confirmed.
